Let’s be honest. Winter in Michigan can feel dull, gray, and long. That is exactly why I decided to host a women-only, golf-themed fundraising event in the middle of winter. If we are going to survive the season, we might as well do it together, indoors, with laughter, connection, and a putting contest or two.
This event is intentionally designed for women only, and that part matters. Golf can feel intimidating if you are new, rusty, or convinced you are “bad at sports” because of something said to you in 1998. This day is about comfort, not competition and confidence, not perfection.

We are not playing an entire course. Instead, we are creating a playful, welcoming environment INSIDE with golf games, prizes, a putting contest, and small activations that let everyone participate at their own level. During the golf portion, women will be grouped with players at similar experience levels so no one feels out of place or rushed. Whether you have never held a club or you golf regularly, there is space for you here. Join us March 7th.
Winter Golf, Warm Connection
The deeper reason I chose golf, and chose it now, goes beyond the game itself. Last year, I joined a women’s golf league, and I watched something quietly powerful unfold. Golf created community. Real community. The kind that starts on the course and spills into life. That golf group slowly became an everything community. These women use their sports team app to organize soup exchanges, art exhibit outings, casual meet-ups, euchre nights, and mahjong games. It turned into a place where people show up for each other.
What struck me most was not how similar these women were, but how different. They do not all agree on politics, sustainability, religion, or any of the hot-button topics we are constantly told should divide us. And guess what. They do not care. They simply do not center their relationships around what they disagree on. They focus on what connects them. Watching that kind of kindness and ease while PS Society was evolving helped me understand something important.
This kind of community does exist.
It is not loud. It is not performative. It is built through shared experiences, mutual respect, and spending time together doing something enjoyable. Golf just happens to be the doorway this time.
That realization has shaped what PS Society is becoming. Our mission is not about perfection or alignment on every issue. It is about connection. It is about creating spaces where women can relax, laugh, learn, and feel like they belong.
This event is an invitation into that energy.
You will hear from our special guest, Meg the Golfer. She will share her secrets of how to be zen on the course and why it matters, her pro-golf tips (she shared a putting tip she heard and it worked for me!), and a mini sound bath. You will also enjoy our incredible hosts and sponsors, and meet women you might not otherwise cross paths with. You will support PS Society’s programming for women across Michigan. And you will have a genuinely fun day that breaks up the winter monotony.
So if winter has been feeling a little long, if you are craving connection, or if you just want to try something new in a supportive, female-forward environment, we would love to have you with us.
Come for the golf. Stay for the community. Leave feeling lighter.
It is going to be a great day.
P.S. Nobody cares if you're good at golf!
